Hi, I’m Michael, the State Manager for Engaging China Project in South Australia.
I’m a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Adelaide. While I wouldn’t define myself as ‘sporty’ or ‘artistic’, I’m nonetheless passionate about young Australians engaging with China through sport and the creative arts.
There are plenty of opportunities to do this in South Australia. By 2015, Port Adelaide Football Club will hold a pre-season game in China and South Australia’s OzAsia Festival is growing in popularity and acclaim each and every year. Add that to South Australia’s strengths in resources, agriculture and viticulture, and it presents a compelling case for South Australians to understand China, which is our largest trading partner.
I conduct workshops and presentations at high schools which explore how to make the most out of learning Chinese, and I get a kick out of helping teachers improve their Chinese curriculums.
